Lack of buying interest in frontline stocks and no fresh triggers saw benchmarks end in negative on Monday. Buying was seen in midcap and smallcap mining, refineries and steel companies.
Markets made inroads into the negative territory during the final hour of trade as selling pressure intensified among index heavyweights. While stocks from the banking and commodity sectors garnered invertors’ interest, stocks from the telecom, energy, software and engineering sectors were at the receiving end. As regards global markets, the Asian indices closed in the negative territory, while the European indices are witnessing a mixed trend currently.
