Markets continued their northward journey in the final trading hour as well with the BSE Sensex closing almost 3.8% above its previous close. While buying was witnessed across sectors, Cairn India was the only stock that bore the brunt of profit booking on the NSE Nifty. As regards global markets, while the Asian indices closed in the green, the European indices are witnessing a mixed trend territory currently.
The BSE Sensex and NSE Nifty ended higher by almost 510 points and 146 points respectively. The BSE Midcap and Smallcap indices also closed in the green, each up 2%. The rupee was trading at 43.86 to the dollar.
