Equities opened with a negative bias on Monday following mixed global markets and as investors booked profits in index heavyweights after disappointing inflation numbers.
There was lack of participation in midcap and smallcaps as BSE Midcap Index was at 5,817.41and BSE Smallcap Index was at 7120.33.
Though the cues from the international markets are positive, our markets may not be able to benefit much as the local inflation numbers that came on Thursday, after the markets closed for the long weekend,
