Benchmarks are trading in a narrow range on Monday after over a 5 per cent rally in Friday’s trade. Buying was seen in realty and metal stocks while IT and auto stocks were in the red.
Midcap and smallcap indices were around 1 per cent up outperforming the benchmarks. BSE Midcap Index was up 0.90 per cent at 5,276.10 and BSE Smallcap Index moved 0.93 per cent higher to 6,273.77.
Tata Steel (2.79%), ITC (2.15%), DLF (2.01%), Sterlite Industries (1.24%) HDFC (1.17%) were the major Sensex gainers.
Satyam Computer Services (-2.36%), ONGC (-1.69%), Ranbaxy Laboratories (-1.09%) and Maruti Suzuki (-1.02%) were the major losers.
Market breadth was positive with 1366 gainers against 828 losers on the BSE.
