Dow Jones falls 337.15 points to 8,498.1, 5% down for the week

U.S. stocks dropped Friday, tallying a second consecutive week of declines, as a record fall in retail sales hammered home the ongoing fallout of the ailing economy. The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 337.94 points (3.8%)to end at 8,497.31, leaving the blue-chip index down 5% for the week. The S&P 500 dropped 38.02 points (4.2%) to 873.27, translating into a weekly loss of 6.2%. The technology-heavy Nasdaq Composite shed 79.85 points, or 5%, to finish at 1,516.85, leaving it 7.9% lower than where it stood at last Friday's close.
