Taking cues from its global counterparts, the Indian indices began the day’s proceedings on a weak note. Selling activity is being witnessed in stocks across sectors, with stocks from the realty, automobiles and consumer durables space being the top losers. The overall decline to advance ratio is poised at 2.2 to 1 on the BSE. Last Friday, the US markets ended firm, while the European markets closed in the red. The Asian indices are currently trading weak.
The BSE Sensex and the NSE Nifty are trading lower, down by 130 points and 40 points respectively. The BSE Midcap and Smallcap indices are trading weak, down by 0.8% and 0.6% respectively. The rupee is trading at 48.55 to the dollar.
