Indian market may open firm, tracking a mixed trend in the Asian markets this morning. However, selective buying may emerge on reports that the government is likely to announce a second stimulus package in the next few days to lift slowing growth.
Volumes are expected to be thin on lower FII participation on holiday season. Nifty upside is seen around 3100-3150 levels. Inflation is likely to be lower & banking stocks will be in focus.
Investor await for inflation data, which is scheduled to be released this afternoon. The index of wholesale inflation for the week ended December 13 is expected to have fallen to a fresh nine-month low of 6.57% from 6.84% a week earlier.
F&O cues: Nifty rollover at 66.5% versus 66% last expiry while Marketwide rollover at 76% versus 77% last expiry
