Govt cuts excise duty on Bulk Cement

Govt cuts excise duty on Bulk Cement

The Indian government has cut the excise duty on Bulk Cement to 8% or Rs 230 per tonne which ever is higher from earlier 10% or Rs 290 per tonne which ever is higher. The Bulk Cement sales accounts for 10-15% of total industry sales. The benefit per bag would be around Rs 4-5/- per bag. This would not benefit much to companies because the Bulk Cement sales are very less. Shree Cement would be much benefited because its Bulk Cement sales accounts for 30% of total sales, followed UltraTech Cement accounts for 25-30% to total sales. But companies agreed to pass on this benefit to Bulk Trades, this benefits mainly to infrastructure sector because all the purchases in this are bought through bulk trades.
