Market Outlook: Indian markets may have flat to positive opening today on the back of mixed global cues. Nifty has supports at 4980-5000 and resistances are at 5120-5175. Nifty is expected to trade within a narrow range and may consolidate for a few trading session. Overall in markets nothing has changed and we would say selling pressure continues on its way up’.

On the global counter: Wall Street ends lower; Gold at record high & Asia trading mixed; Hang Seng down, Shanghai Composite up. The US markets snapped a three-day winning streak on the back of a report that showed housing starts fell sharply in October. Technology stocks took a hit after a weak outlook from software firms, autodesk and salesforce.com. Driving the losses in the US markets were some disappointing economic data. Housing starts unexpectedly fell 10.6% to the lowest level in six months, weighed down by a sharp decline in construction activity for both single-family and multi-family dwellings. The consumer price index rose 0.3%, indicating that inflation may not be quite as benign as some economists have indicated.
