Wall Street ends higher; Dow up 151 points while Asian markets trading weak

In US markets, stocks pulled off a final-hour rally, boosted by a better-than-expected forecast from Hewlett-Packard after a volatile session.

Computer maker HP was among the biggest gainers of the day. Yahoo surges after CEO Yang's decision to step down. Auto stocks slump as automakers argue their case for a bailout.

The Dow gained 151.17 points, or 1.83%, to 8,424.75. The S&P 500 index advanced 8.37 points, or 0.98%, to 859.12 and the Nasdaq composite index was up 1.22 points, or 0.08%, to 1,483.27.
